Canine Academy Training Center offers training for basic obedience and puppy socialization. Bring your pup and have FUN with them at our classes! All dogs must be vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP and bordetella.

AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing
Canine Academy Training Center is an approved American Kennel Club CGC test provider. If you would like for your dog to be tested or need assistance training your dog for the program please contact us. The test description can be found on the AKC website.
Board and Train programs
Basic Board and Train Program ($695)
Our Basic Board & Train Program is designed for those individuals whose lifestyle doesn't allow them to personally participate in the day-to-day training of their pet. We actually board your dog and train up to three time a day. Our 4-week program covers all the same exercises as the group classes, with one exception: in the Basic Board & Train Program WE DO ALL THE WORK! At the end of 4 weeks, your dog will be able to:

PLUS, we give owners two private lessons so they can learn the cues that
their dog already now knows. The follow-up private lessons give you the
opportunity to review your dog's new foundation obedience skills and work with
your personal trainer one-on-one to transition to your own handling for
continued training and skills development at home.

For our out-of-town guests, we offer free pickup at the airport, and a video

The "Mat" command is a great command for those dogs who spend a lot of time
inside the home. The dog is taught to go to a specific mat or rug inside the
home and stay there until the owner releases the dog. No more getting under your
feet while trying to prepare dinner or having Fido jump in guest's lap!
Our "Lifetime Training Assistance" is exactly what it says. For as long as you own your dog, we will assist you if your dog is having problems, at no additional charge. And of course this program also offers the private lessons or the training video for our out of town guests. The follow-up private lessons give you the opportunity to review your dog's new foundation obedience skills and work with your personal trainer one-on-one to transition to your own handling for continued training and skills development at home.
Zone Obedience Classes
($140)
Canine Academy Training Center is now teaching obedience for you and your canine friend using “zone” classes. Zone classes are also called “level” classes. The benefit of zone training is that you have more flexibility in attendance, you can move up to the next level when you are ready instead of after a specified number of classes and you may start class at any time instead of waiting for the next round. Now, you will get an 8 week punch pass which allows you to attend 8 classes of your choice in a 90 day period. So, if you need to miss a class you won’t lose the training time. If you and your dog are ready to move to a more advanced training class, you may move up to the next level at any time. We realize that some dogs learn faster and some dogs need more time. Now, you may always be in the right “zone” for your dogs learning abilities.
Canine Academy Training Center uses positive reinforcement training for all of our classes. This will expedite your training and make it more successful for long term use. We assign homework and give written reminders of each lesson that is taught. Before starting your Zone 1 class we require that you watch a DVD that we can mail to you or you may arrive early on your first Sunday to watch here at our facility.
ZONE 1: Starts the 1st Sunday of each month and lasts 4
weeks. You must attend all 4 sessions. Then you
move up to Zone 2.
In zone 1 we cover the basic obedience cues such as loose leash walking, sit,
down, settle and behavior issues. These cues
lay the fundamentals that each canine must learn before they can advance to the
next zone.
ZONE 2: Runs continuously and you may start at anytime
after you have passed Zone 1.
In zone 2 we reinforce the cues learned in zone 1 and we introduce wait, leave
it, mat, recall (Come). We work on longer sits and downs, loose leash walking
around objects and distractions. We also introduce
the dogs to basic agility equipment.
ZONE 3: Runs continuously and you may start at
anytime after you have passed Zone 2.
In zone 3 we reinforce the training from zones 1 and 2 with major distractions.
We also start the preparation for the team to pass their AKC Canine Good Citizen
Test if desired. We “play” real life training games such as grocery shopping
with your dog, a sit on the target game, musical chairs and other fun
games. During this zone you will also start some trick training, targeting and
combine the basic agility equipment to make a short agility run.
Cost:
$140 per 8 week punch card good for 90 days.

Schedule: Sundays-continuous
classes for Zone 2 & 3. Zone 1 usually starts on the first Sunday of each month.

Zone 2: 1:30pm-2:30pm
Zone 3: 3pm-4pm
Equipment required: Gentle Leader or Halti, 6 foot
leash, treats and a good attitude. We have Gentle leaders available for purchase
during your first class.
Family Friendly: We encourage the whole family to attend and learn to work with the family pet. For those with younger children we provide a movie room with "G" rated movies playing to keep them occupied. We also have some toys that are youngster friendly like nerf football, hula hoops etc for those wanting some outdoor activity. Bring an ice chest with cold drinks, some snacks and enjoy a family outing.
Offsite Socialization meetings (1 punch on your obedience punch card or $20 a session)
These classes are designed to be a fun way to meet with other people and work on not only obedience training in a public setting, but also to work on socialization issues that your dog may have. We will meet at dog friendly places located around Austin including town Lake, Zilker Park, Bull Run etc. Sometimes we will be walking and other times we will be letting our dogs watch the surroundings. Each session will last approximately an hour depending on the groups needs. Please feel free to join us. The sites will be posted here and on our Yahoo group site. Behavioral Consultations ($45/hour at our facility, $60/hour at your home, 6pack (6 lessons)/$325)
Our 60 minute behavior consultations are designed for people who are experiencing issues with their dogs that a general obedience class does not cover. Examples of issues discussed during this one hour consultation can range from a dog that barks, guards his food, destroys your property, fights with other dogs, house soils, or growls at visitors. Each consultation is customized to meet your individual needs and will include a training plan for future success for your dog.
